It's Party Time!!

Look! I have thirty people supporting me. 30! I wasn't this happy when I turned 30, but I never guessed in a million years I would have 30 people interested in my blog. :-) You guys are the greatest!!

So, as promised, we're having a party!! What is a party without music?? Here's an upbeat song to get your feet tapping....dedicated to you.

And of course, what is a party without food?? I've decided to share a recipe for the easiest cookies ever!

EASY CHOCOLATE CAKE MIX COOKIES

1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
1/2 c. raisins (opt.)
1/2 c. chopped pecans (opt.)
1/2 c. rolled oats
1 c. (6 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 c. butter, melted
2 eggs, slightly beaten

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Combine all ingredients in large bowl and blend well. On ungreased cookie sheet, drop rounded teaspoonfuls of dough 2" apart. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes. Cool 1 minute. Enjoy. Makes about 6 dozen cookies.

I also promised a giveaway. I will post this tomorrow. (hahaha made you come back!) For now, enjoy the music and the cookies. I'm partying it up today with a goal of 2000 words.

One more thing, in honor of Nano, I'm going to post an activity or tip for keeping your kids out of your hair while you write. These are all things I have tried/tested and most of the time, it works.
Monday's Tip: Set a timer for one hour for older kids or 30 minutes for younger kids. Have on the table paper, crayons, paints or stickers. I usually get them started on a craft with a suggestion of drawing something or making something fall themed and they usually go with it on their own. Sometimes I don't even have to suggest anything. There is also a stack of books in the middle of the table. Their instructions include: Create what you want, don't cut your hair. If you are finished before the timer goes off, you may grab a book and read. Once the timer goes off, everyone get together and see how well you've progressed. :0)

This way they don't feel left out of your life as you write madly to reach your daily word count goal and you don't sit at the computer for too long at a time without a little break.

  1. Heyya Kristi! So sorry about your burnt finger. YOUCH! Hope it gets better soon.

Love the recipe and congrats on the 30 followers.

I hope you reach your word count and I hope life has been good to you while I've been unplugged. :) Good luck with NANO. I'm not doing it this year. Too many hospital visits and home-school is getting much more involved since it's middle school and up now. Anyway, good to see you're doing great. Write on my friend! :)

  5. And now you have 31 :-).... I NanoWrimo too! I'm going to cheat this year and write non-fiction because I've tried fiction the last two years and while I've gotten one Pulitzer worthy paragraph each year... the rest has kind of been crap.

  9. Kristi,
These are great tips. My kiddies are all grown up, so I'm able to set the timer for two hours. :-) This is similar to what I used to do when I wanted to write.
I'm gonna' try that recipe... and I don't even cook. Thanks for gettin' me to break down and try again. ~ Just Joany

  10. Oh Patti, trust me, I say that too!! I have just found that my insistent princesses will continually ask for this or that unless I set the timer (then they KNOW not to bother me)
