Angels or Vampires?

We love to read about them, write about them and discuss their existence. They are among us. Yes...even vampires.

Before you click out and slowly back away from your computer with worries of being influenced by a crazy person...hear me out. ;) <this is my new favorite winky face...have you noticed?>

We are surrounded by people for a considerable amount of our days. I think we've all noticed our Angels. Those people that pop up with just the right thing at just the right time for no particular reason other than God knew we needed that person. An angel.

But what about the co-worker that has something to say each day at each break about how horrible their life is? Or the friend* that calls twice a day only to dominate each conversation with their troubles? How about the lady at the grocery store that seems to always be the empty line and always wears a scowl? Vampires. Energy sucking vampires. They drain us. And the really creepy part....

We don't even know it half the time.

Let's face it, life is not always a bowl of cherries and there are plenty of times that we can't hold onto the positive smile when faced with bills, economy, banking, mis-behaved children, the grouchy spouse or the leaking sink. These are all circumstances that wear on us. That lovely word....S-T-R-E-S-S

And so, we have to choose to surround ourselves with Angels and not Vampires. Vampires leach out the remaining happiness and energy we have left to deal with our lives.

Another sad point, many vampires do not even know of their power-which makes it all the more dangerous. Many times we, as humans that do occasionally mess up, get into a cycle of negativity. We forget to smile and put our burdens aside for a few moments each day to appreciate each other. All of a sudden....vampire.

My point in all of this rambling? Try to recognize the vampires so you don't get bit. Surround yourself with those angels and try to save a vampire or two. They'll be grateful.

*I am not speaking of close friends that call each other up and tell each other problems, ask for advice, etc.. and then it is returned. I'm speaking of those that manage to manipulate the conversations and every time you need a little something they aren't around...yanno?
