I am unwritten; can't read my mind. I'm undefined.
I'm just beginning, the pens in my hand; ending unplanned.

Staring at the blank page before you.
Open up the dirty window; let the sun illuminate the words that you can not find.
Reaching for something in the distance; so close you can almost taste it.
Release your inhibitions. Feel the rain on your skin.
No one else can feel it for you. Only you can let it in.
No one else, no one else can speak the words on your lips.
Give yourself in words unspoken; live your life with arms wide open.
Today is where your book begins, the rest is still unwritten.

I break tradition. Sometimes my tries are outside the line.
We've been conditioned to not make mistakes, but I can't live that way.

Today is where your book begins, the rest is still unwritten.... Natasha Bedingfield Unwritten

What I love about this song is that it took a second listen before I even realized the lyrics. The music and the beat were uplifting and so I cranked it in the car the first time. The second time I was in the car too, but caught the line about the "blank page before you" and made sure to look it up on Youtube as soon as I got in.

So, for me, this song is uplifting. It's what I listen to when I'm starting that downward spiral of doubts and insecurities. It reminds me that I'm responsible for my happiness.

  1. OMG! I absolutely LOVE the words and the beauty of them as written - they don't need music to make them wonderful. I am going to print this! Thanks, Kristi. :-)

  3. Confession: I listened to this before I first talked with my agent. It pumped me up and reminded me how close I was. Whenever it pops up on my iPod at the gym, I re-live all the wonderful things that have been going on for me these last few months.

    Inspiring!
