Cheese with that Whine?

Yes please, because I'm starving. :0)

Here it is, my whine for the weekend. I don't want to go to work. If I could get away with a full blown kicking on the floor, fists in the air tantrum, I so would do it.

I know it will get better. Right now I'm still in training and (they aren't very good at it)still a little lost as far as MY job as a host. I could start waiting tables with more confidence. They haven't taught me anything other than the stinkin' menu!

I'm broke from driving back and forth for both me and BFF to this work. I'm tired from staying up until midnight and later in order to pick up BFF. My calves hurt (this restaurant was so smart to put stairs in it) and my back hurts. I feel like I'm in a worse position now than when I was unemployed.

*SIGH*

Uhm, but thank you to all of you for your questions about how the job has been going!! It's been refreshing to know that my community of like minded cool kids are thinking about me. Truly, it's what makes me go to work each time.

  1. Poor Kristi! It WILL get better. Give your body a week or so to adjust. My feet always terrorize me the first week of back to school in September.

    Think of the pay cheque - that'll help :)

  2. I'll join you in that wine (got my glass on the desk). We spent all February in training for the new software that completely changed the way we do business on March 1. It's nothing like the training environment.

    Whine, wine and moan.

    I know there's probably a Silver Lining in this for you somewhere (just because there is for me too), but in case it’s a long time coming, I’m giving you the award on my blog.

  3. Kristi, Will it really be a help for you to work? If you factor in the expense of driving to and fro and then child care, etc.....and the way you feel physically? Just playing devil's advocate.

    In a couple of weeks, you will have adjusted to being on your feet for long periods of time and your schedule at home will become second nature.
    Have faith.

    And if you've got to whine, please do. We've all been there!

  4. As a hostess you do need to know the menu inside and out, just in case. And I'm sure they're not training you properly because they assume you know what you're doing (because you impressed the snot out of them at the interview).

    Don't worry, it will soon get better and just think how sweet your ass is going to look after a few weeks on those stairs. Who needs a tread mill?

  5. Oh Kristi, I can feel your pain! I worked in restaurants for many, many years while I was in college (yeah, it took me much longer than 4 years to finish!). It's tough work. But look at it this way, you'll be in great shape!

    Anyway, I hope it gets better soon. Hang in there!

  7. I'm sorry the job and the BFF are sucking the life out of you right now. I agree that in a couple of weeks things should be better and then it all won't seem so bad. At least I hope so. :)

  8. I feel your pain. It's Monday morning here and I'm about to head off to a job that involves screaming children and snarky mums. Sigh.

  9. The beginning is always the worst. Every time I've had to start somewhere I think I'll never survive it.

    but sometimes..just sometimes.. I end up loving it more than anything...and finding life-changing friends.

    And think of how great your calves will look in a few weeks. :)
