A New Challenge

Mondays. When I worked as an office admin, Mondays really sucked. I understood the whole "It's Monday" mantra. Most any other job I worked never had a regular Monday through Friday schedule, so Monday lost its power over me.
Then I became a stay at home mom again after five years of working a full time schedule. I love Mondays. Mondays are happy. The kids are happy to go back to school, if only for the conversations and visuals of people other than their siblings. I'm happy they are back in school, if only for the lack of predictable fights, outbursts of unknown energy, and constant grazing of the refrigerator and cupboards. Monday held hope of a brand new start, a fresh slate. Okay, I have to lie to myself sometimes, DeNial is not a river in Egypt baby.
Today, I'm going to hate Mondays again. After gathering our finances together, or lack thereof, we came to the startling conclusion that I really need to make money. Okay, again, it wasn't startling, I lied.

However, other plans that we had for earning money to pay the bills and allow me to labor over a keyboard, well...they fell through. I won't mention names, court jester's brother, but it has really put us in a tough spot. *Ahem* You didn't hear a name, did you?
Alright, so today while I pound the pavement and possibly a few residential homes to see if they need help with crocheting or something, you folks better write. I'm not giving up my blog or my writing or my nano-ing. (I just love this additional vocabulary word that is both noun and verb-nano) I am giving up my writer's forum, which really, really sucks. So, I'm not totally abandoning it, but I'm definitely no longer a BPC regular.

You may notice that I won't be commenting an awful lot, but know I'm reading, always reading. Reading my fellow blogger's blogs is a great reward for me at the end of the day once I reach my word count. But this computer is terribly slow and leaving one comment takes me five to seven minutes. No, I'm not exaggerating. If you have something better, hand it over. :-)

And I leave you with something to chew on...."Most of our obstacles would melt away if, instead of cowering before them, we should make up our minds to walk boldly through them." ~Orson Swett Marden

Jeez, I wish you lived here! I am constantly in need of help. I have 3 separate people each clean a separate part of my house. Am I kidding...unfortunately not!

I'm sending good thoughts your way to accompany you in your search for some gainful employment!

  4. Working sucks! But I guess there's a reward in that too. Mondays aren't so bad. It's all in how we perceive things.

  7. Good luck! I feel for you! Have you watched the movie Wild Hogs? My husband always jokes that I need to go back to The Firm. I'm feeling like that time is getting really close. We're just waiting to see how the book sales go... and then I may be doing the Monday thing too.

  8. Kristi! Awwww. I hope it works out for you. Hmmm, maybe you can get enough crocheting jobs to add to the income. I hope whatever it is you'll be happy.

Believe me! I understand. If it wasn't for home-schooling my castle king would have me butt out the door. :) I hope you are doing great on your word count.

  9. I'm right there with you. I've been at home for about six months now, and if things don't get better, I'll be looking for work after Christmas.

Hope everything works out for you!
