Mother of !!

I'm sure no one has forgotten their mothers. I know everyone remembers that it is this Sunday. As in two days away. So...if you don't have a gift, and by gift that could be as simple as a hand drawn picture with a little macaroni pasted all over it ..... hurry. 


Until I became a mom, I never fully appreciated Mother's Day. Each year since the birth of my first child has brought new revelations, new appreciations and more respect for my mother than I've ever thought I could have. *wink*

Mothers are a rare breed. We're more than women that can stomach multiple vomiting children. We even have more magic than those healing kisses. Labor is nothing compared to motherhood. You know what I'm talking about.

Mothers are the ones we blame for just about everything. Our social standings, lack of/or excess of our chests, our issues with men, the reason we never had a boyfriend in junior high...well, the list goes on and on. I know my mother ruined my life on more than one occasion. *ahem*

But mothers are also who we run to when the tears won't hold back. They give us recipes over the phone after we first get married/shacked up and graciously don't tell our new husband/boyfriend. Again, the list goes on and on.

There are also multiple kinds of mothers. Working moms. Not only do they bring home the bacon or at least some of it, they remain a part of their child's life. Whether it's through your favorite snack always being available or tucking you in each night. Tirelessly, they put up with crap at work and come home to clean up yours. Isn't she nice??

Stay at home moms. They really get the brunt of the deal. They can't win for losing. The kids really don't want her there full time anymore, the world doesn't understand that stay at home only means work doubly as hard and begin a regimen of Prozac. They take care of your needs on a moment to moment basis. She never leaves your side. Please appreciate this mom!!

Adopted Moms. These moms are everywhere and thank goodness! They willingly choose to take you on and love you unconditionally. It doesn't matter how old you were or are or what your past. Everyone needs a mom and this one adopted you. Don't forget her because she could possibly come to her senses soon and abandon you.

So, my point is this. Mothers are awesome and there is no limit to what they can do. And if there was...no one will ever notice behind all the other super hero qualities they possess.
