Where Did It Go??

I was on a roll last week. My goals were met, I loved my writing. I loved my story. Saturday evening, exhausted from dealing with the new and unwieldy demands of the Young Prince, I said... "Not tonight. I'll work on it tomorrow." Well, Sunday morning came with a nauseated Princess Rhiannon. Lots of nauseatin' all over the house. By the time that was taken care of and settled, the last thing I wanted to do was write. Which is odd, writing is not only what I love, it's relaxing for me, even the editing and revising.

So, I'm sitting here wondering.....where did it go? All that enthusiasm, I mean. I hate it when it just deserts me for no reason whatsoever.

However, I tried to go to bed and get some sleep three hours ago and all I could keep thinking about was the manuscript I didn't work on for two days and why I was wasting precious quiet, non-pukey time for something as petty as sleep??

I thought I could put it off. I tweeted. I lurked around some blogs-still have 63 to read. I accepted a friend request on facebook, Hi Karyn! I played fishworld on facebook. I caught up on everyone's status on facebook. I still am not tired.

Blogging was my last attempt. Apparently it won't work either. So I guess I'm off to work on my manuscript, even though I don't feel like it, obviously my brain thinks it is time.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Monday!

  1. Just think, if it didn't ebb and flow we would lose appreciation for it.

(Hey, I gave it my best shot!)

Please post about the basics of short story writing. I've never ever done it - not even once and I'd love to go through the exercise.

  2. Hope you got some sleep eventually. I know the last time that happened to me that I ended up doing a marathon session all day. LOL.

  3. Angelia: Yup, I'm pulling a marathoner today. The young prince woke up before I could get back to sleep. LOL I'll be a little delirious until naptime. :)

  4. Life gets in the way sometimes. I think we have to just forgive ourselves that...but generally I find once I force myself back on the wagon for a day or two, the enthusiasm and energy returns.

  5. Funny how when you get a roll and then you have an interruption it's hard to get back to that. Try to get some sleep as I look at the 2:10am posting time.

  6. Stephanie: Yes, the bright side of not sleeping was that I did pass a major block in my re-write. YAY. I think the rest will fall into place(a little)easier now :0)

Patti: reminds me of the saying that first we make our habits and then our habits make us. Ugh. Or my dad's favorite, bad habits are the easiest ones to start.

  7. Sometimes you just need a few days off to recharge the batteries, so to speak. It was sooo hard for me to get back in the habit after I hit my slump, but now it's easy.

  8. It's tough getting through those spots. Maybe chocolate would help???

  9. Ha! That's funny. We were really feeling the same pains today.
